The amateur detectives of Only Murders in the Building have closed yet another case. In Season 5, Charles-Haden Savage (Steve Martin), Oliver Putnam (Martin Short), and Mabel Mora (Selena Gomez) solved

not one but two murders. They unmasked who was behind the murders of doorman Lester Coluca (Teddy Coluca) and Nicky Caccimelio (Bobby Cannavale). Here's how they figured it out. Warning: Spoilers ahead!

Who killed Lester the doorman?

The fifth season went back in time to reveal the history of the Arconia, the site of said murders since 2021. Last season, the trio discovered Lester's dead body in the courtyard of the Arconia. Although the police initially ruled it as an accidental death, the longtime doorman was murdered. Then, Oliver found another dead body that might have a link to Lester—that of missing mobster Nicky Caccimelio in the dry cleaning store next to the building. The remaining episodes revealed that there was a gambling den with links to the mob.

The clues lead Charles, Oliver, and Selena down to a hidden casino in the basement of the Arconia, which was run by Nicky. In addition, they discover three billionaires, nepo kid Jay Pflug (Logan Lerman), tech genius Bash Steed (Christoph Waltz), and interior design queen Camila White (Renée Zellweger), with shady connections to the casino, Nicky, and Lester. It was New York City Mayor Beau Tillman (Keegan-Michael Key) who pursued Lester and pushed him to his death in the fountain. Lester even tries to warn the main trio that it was Beau Tillman; instead, his final text is autocorrected to 'It's beautiful.'

Who killed Nicky Caccimelio?

Nicky was in cahoots with Camila to turn the Arconia (prime real estate) into a casino. The three billionaires were competing against one another to bid for a chance to make their own casino. Camila almost succeeded in pulling it off; instead, the trio made sure to disrupt the plan and reveal the truth in front of the media.

They reveal how both Lester and Nicky were killed. Camila, Jay, Bash, and Mayor Tillman were sitting for a game in the casino when an enraged Nicky entered. Tillman was having an affair with Nicky's wife, Sofia Caccimelio (Téa Leoni), and the enraged mobster wanted revenge. He cut off Tillman's finger with a meat cleaver, which Lester later grabbed as evidence. He puts it in the shrimp of Oliver's wedding reception for Oliver to find.To stop the crazed Nicky, Lester hits him with the elevator crank on the back of the head. Nicky stumbles on Lester while holding the cleaver and accidentally kills himself. Both deaths were accidental but unavoidable in the larger scheme of things. The billionaire cleaned up afterwards to save Tillman and keep their bids for the casino alive. Who is the dead body at the end of Season 5?

So, the Arconia is saved, and the residents don't have to move away at the end of Season 5. But it seems like Charles, Oliver, and Mabel will be going across the pond for the recently announced sixth season. The trio is listening to their old nemesis Cinda Canning's (Tina Fey) podcast titled The Girl with the Curls. In it, Cinda talks about her investigation into a murder in England and her top suspect, who is being threatened by someone dangerous.

Suddenly, the scene cuts to a woman with red curly hair stumbling her way across New York to the Arconia. She falls and dies right outside the gate just as Charlies, Oliver, and Mabel arrive. As they turn the body over, they see the woman is actually Cinda, wearing a wig. It looks like the trio will be completing Canning's work into the murder after her death.
