This not only led to decline in opportunities for the singer but also led him to constantly feel sidelined and ignored at national awards. Here’s what the singer said on bearing this change throughout his journey in the industry.
Arrival of Himesh Reshammiya
In an interaction with India Today, the singer revealed how a change of voice in the industry substituted his own. Supriyo mentioned, he was getting plenty of romantic songs after
Hum Tum as a playback singer but that all changed quick. “
Himesh Reshammiya ji also arrived, and he started a new trend,” explained Supriyo on what he believes to be the reason for the downfall of his peak career. He later added that the arrival of Himesh subjugated his songs, which shattered and ruined everything for him in a flash. Crediting Himesh and his contemporaries for their work, he called Himesh’s work phenomenal but said this change in trend for the industry affected his individual rise. Supriyo revealed why he speaks about this when he said, "If I say that I didn't lose anything because of those types of songs, then I'll be a hypocrite.” From people’s cheer after
Hum Tum, to a downhill career, it all felt as the worst phase of his life.
Industry Politics and Lack of Recognition
Supriyo went on to talk about the bad politics that was involved, but he did not want to talk more about it as he says, “Because if the industry hadn't given me anything, I wouldn't have been given this platform to discuss what went wrong.” These things happen with everyone who’s the part of the industry said Supriyo skipping to delve deeper into that phase.
He added extensively on how lack of recognition in the industry made him feel demotivated and disheartened. Not receiving any national award for his ‘unique record’, he recollected how the lead singer
Alka Yagnik along with the lyricist were awarded but he and composers were not. In another instance, Shreya Ghoshal won a national award but he and the music director Shantanu Moitra were overlooked for
