The issue centers on a portrayal involving arishtam, which some practitioners say misrepresents traditional medicine. The Ayurveda Medical Association of India (AMAI) has reportedly announced plans for legal action, claiming the scene could spread misinformation. Vaazha 2, the latest Malayalam hit featuring Hashir and his team, has become the centre of a controversy despite its impressive box office run. The issue stems from a scene involving Biju Kuttan’s character, which allegedly connects a medical condition to the consumption of arishtam, a traditional Ayurvedic preparation. According to reports, this portrayal has not gone down well with a section of the Ayurveda community, who argue that it misrepresents authentic medical practices.
The Ayurveda Medical Association of India (AMAI) has reportedly taken a strong stand against the film. The organisation claims that the scene in question sends a misleading message about Ayurveda and could create confusion among the public regarding traditional treatment methods. AMAI has also stated that it intends to initiate legal proceedings against the makers of Vaazha 2. However, despite the growing issue , the makers of Vaazha 2 have not issued any official clarification or response so far.

Interestingly, the controversy has not affected the film’s commercial success. Vaazha 2 continues to perform strongly at the box office. As per reports, the film has collected nearly Rs 99.35 crore in India net earnings, with a worldwide gross crossing Rs 191 crore. The film has shown steady occupancy even in its second week. Vaazha 2 Biopic of a Billion Bros has crossed Rs 100 crore from the Kerala box office alone within 15 days of its theatrical release on April 2, with the makers confirming the milestone via social media on Friday.
The achievement marks one of the most remarkable box office runs in recent Malayalam cinema. The second instalment in the Vaazha franchise has also emerged as the fastest film to reach this benchmark, surpassing the Mohanlal-starrer Thudarum, which took 19 days, and Kalyani Priyadarshan’s Lokah Chapter 1 Chandra, which achieved it in 24 days.Directed by Savin S A and written by Vipin Das, the film features a mix of social media personalities and established actors including Alphonse Puthren, Aju Varghese, Vijay Babu, and Sudheesh. The makers have already announced a third instalment titled Vaazha 3, which is expected to focus on female characters and has been described as a “biopic of one billion girls,” directed by Vishnu Sreejith.
