Palaash Muchhal has initiated legal action against Sangli-based actor-producer Vidnyan Mane for accusing him of cheating on Smriti Mandhana and financial fraud. A day after his lawyer called out false
claims, the filmmaker confirmed sending a defamation notice to Mane. The former music composer had allegedly taken Rs 40 lakh from the film producer as investment for his unreleased movie, Nazariya, and did not return it. In his latest statement, Vidnyan claimed that Muchhal was caught red-handed in bed by Smriti before their wedding, which was then called off. He also accused Palaash’s mother of ‘blackmailing’ him.

Hitting back at
Vidnyan’s claims, Palaash confirmed sending a legal defamation notice of Rs 10 crore through his lawyer Shreyansh Mithare for his ‘false, outrageous and highly defamatory accusations’ levelled against him with an intention of maligning his reputation.

Hindustan Times led to Palaash sending a legal notice. In the interview, he claimed that Muchhal was caught red-handed with another woman in bed. Indian female cricketers, who were there in Sangli for the wedding, beat him for cheating on Smriti.
Lawyer hits back
In response to this, Palaash’s lawyer told the news portal that there is no evidence that Mane invested
Rs 40 lakh in the unreleased film. He also questioned allegations about the director being caught red-handed with another woman. Mithare clarified that his client was introduced to the complaint by Smriti’s father in Sangli and there is no direct contact between them.

Previously, Vidnyan, a family friend of Smriti, alleged that Muchhal took Rs 40 lakh as investment for an unreleased film titled Nazariya, which never got made. When asked to return the money, he blocked his contact. Palaash slammed him on social media with a statement on Instagram story. He called the claims ‘entirely baseless and factually incorrect’. Alleging Vidnyan of having
malicious intent to tarnish his image, Palaash said his lawyer was exploring all legal routes to handle the matter.

Palaash and Smriti were supposed to get married in Sangli in November 2025. On the day of the marriage, they announced that the date had been postponed due to her father’s sudden hospitalisation. Ending speculations, the couple called off the wedding a few weeks later. Both moved on.
