Kim
Soo-Hyun's dating scandal with late actress Kim Sae-Ron is back. And amid the latest round of development around police claims and investigation, the name of K-pop star and actress Sulli, who passed away in 2019 has also surfaced. For the unversed, Sulli worked with Kim Soo-Hyun in 2017 film Real. Her elder brother has disclosed that he has a long audio recording that allegedly contains sensitive talks related to her private life and some famous entertainment names. The recent comments posted on social media have sparked online debates over past controversies involving the movie and Soo-Hyun.
37 minute recording allegations
On May 22, Sulli's brother claimed on social media that he possesses a "37-minute recorded phone conversation" of his late sister's former manager. According to him, the audio allegedly refers to a number of people and matters, such as singer-actress IU,
Kim Soo-Hyun, psychiatric treatment, SM Entertainment, and information regarding Sulli's personal experiences at the time.
Though he refrained from publically revealing what exacly is in the audio, but he did hint that there are many unanswered questions he still wants to address. He said he has held back from saying anything further out of respect for his mother. The sibling also said that his previous statements on the matter were true and not invented.
Cryptic posts fuel speculation
Another social media post, appearing to be a warning to an unnamed individual, was posted a day before and added fuel to the controversy. In the message, Sulli's brother hinted at a possible "round two" if the person decided to come back publicly. When asked by followers who he was talking about, he answered "someone from the star over there," a phrase many online users associated with the drama My Love from the Star, starring Kim Soo-Hyun.The timing of the comments has spurred speculation, particularly as the actor remains in the public eye over separate online allegations circulating with regard to Kim Sae-Ron.
Sulli's connection to Real controversy
This is not the first time that Sulli's brother has brought up issues concerning the movie Real. Last year he asked if the actress felt pressured to shoot explicit scenes for the movie, including nude and intimate scenes. The movie was helmed by Lee Ro-Bae aka Lee Sa-Rang who is thought to be the cousin of Kim Soo-Hyun. The latter was also part of the project. The actor's agency had earlier said Sulli had been fully briefed about the scenes before filming and had participated willingly. The company also clarified that a body double who was present during filming was used for technical preparation only, not for final performance scenes.
Regarding Kim Sae-Ron's death case
Separately, South Korean authorities are investigating claims of spreading falsehoods by YouTube channel Garosero Research Institute, which has been accused of spreading false allegations involving Kim Soo-Hyun and late actress Kim Sae-Ron.
