Faridkot, a Delhi-based band led by IP Singh and Rajarshi Sanyal, has carved a special place in the Hindi pop music scene. Best known for their hit track Jehda Nasha from An Action Hero, the duo, in an exclusive
conversation with Zoom, opened up about the rise of AI in music and the inspiration behind their new EP Nayi Baat.
Faridkot Says ‘Real Music Is Human’
In an exclusive interview with
Zoom, Rajarshi shared, "Yes, of course. AI is just a tool like anything else we use. It’s the evolution from how computers became so important in music. Now it’s another instrument that gives us infinite capabilities. AI can also do that. But the real music is human. Human mind and creativity can never be replaced. Tools and tech can only add to it."IP added, "AI has really come into our lives in every aspect. And yes, we can definitely use AI in ideation or breaking a creative block. It’s a tool, just like autotune, and it depends on us how we can use it for our benefit."

All About Faridkot’s New EP Nayi Baat
Speaking about their new album, Rajarshi shared, "
‘Nayi Baat’ focuses more on storytelling through music. There’s a whole range of songs on it, from peppy songs to long desi rock ballads that are about philosophies and how they intertwine in our lives. Our last few released songs were more of a fun nature. Our older releases had something similar to what is here, but in this EP we have designed it as almost a concept album, where there are lots of different stories. If you listen to the songs in order also, it’s almost like a journey of maturing in life."IP continued,
"As the name suggests, it’s about newness and new beginnings. You will hear new sounds and new stories. We love telling stories and you will find five new stories in the form of these five songs. We always try to tell something fresh with our music and that’s what this EP also stands for."Faridkot’s latest EP comprises five tracks:
Harjai, Nayi Baat, Sawaari, Aza, and
Jaadugari.
