Fans of Netflix’s popular titles like Wednesday, Ginny & Georgia,Untamed and more will have to wait a little more to witness them on the streaming platforms. As per a recent report, 2026 programming slate
brings a mix of long-awaited returns, final seasons, and fresh content, though several fan-favourite series will be absent due to longer production schedules. While comedies and faster-turnaround dramas like The Diplomat, Virgin River, Monster, The Night Agent, and The Lincoln Lawyer can release almost annually thanks to early renewals, more elaborate productions tend to follow a two-year cycle.
Wednesday, Ginny & Georgia not returning to Netflix in 2026
According to a report in Deadline,
Wednesday’s delay is understandable given its complex production. The supernatural mystery comedy, starring Jenna Ortega, took almost three years to deliver Season 2, partly due to the 2023 Hollywood strikes. Season 3, already renewed early, will begin production in February 2026 with Eva Green joining the cast for a planned 2027 release. Similarly,
Ginny & Georgia follows a two-year cycle, with Season 4 filming underway and expected to wrap in February. Ransom Canyon and Netflix’s adaptation of Forever are also in production, with releases projected for early 2027.
Netflix's slate of popular shows in 2026
Among the highlights for 2026 are the final seasons of Outer Banks and
The Witcher, as well as returning hits such as
Bridgerton, One Piece, and Beef. However, shows like
Wednesday, Ginny & Georgia, and freshman series
Ransom Canyon, Untamed, and
Forever are missing from the current slate. Several international productions that had been renewed after successful first seasons, including the UK’s
Supacell and
Dept. Q, Canada’s Bet and Geek Girl, and Australia’s Heartbreak High, are also absent. The talk show Everybody’s Live With John Mulaney, midway through a two-season order, is not included either.
Previous changes in Netflix's slate of series
Some schedule shifts are common. For instance,
The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3 and
Virgin River Season 6 were initially absent from the 2024 slate but premiered in Q4 that year. Conversely,
The Night Agent Season 2 slipped from 2024 to January 2025, and Agatha Christie’s The Seven Dials Mystery moved from 2025 to 2026.
