Created
by Sam Levinson, Euphoria Season 3 was very different from previous seasons. It returned after four years with a five-year time jump and lost its main composer, Labrinth. The third season showed the main characters Rue (Zendaya), Cassie (Sydney Sweeney), Nate (Jacob Elordi) and more out of high school struggling as young adults. While the look and tone of Euphoria were very different. The series pays homage to the original Israeli series, of which it is a remake, giving Rue a similar ending as the main character. Here's what happened in the now-confirmed series finale. Warning: Major Spoilers Ahead!
Euphoria Season 3 Episode 8: In God We Trust
Rue was successful in stealing back Alamo Brown's (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) money from Laurie's (Martha Kelly) place. She nearly gets killed as Laurie's henchmen give her chase. But G (Marshawn Lynch) saves her and they both are able to flee. The injured Rue returns to Alamo, who congratulates her on completing the job. Seeing a bad cut on her hand, he gives her a bottle of Percocet for the pain while also giving her some money.
The DEA raids Laurie's ranch and arrests Kitty (Anna Van Patten), Mitch (Daeg Faerch), and Big Eddy (Kadeem Hardison). Wayne (Toby Wallace) and Faye (Chloe Cherry). Laurie hangs herself before the authorities can arrest her. The rest of Alamo's crew also manages to escape. However, when the DEA inspects the ambulance, which is supposed to hold the drugs transported over from Mexico, all they find is a dead rat. Alamo knew all along.
Does Rue die in the Euphoria series finale?
Sadly, yes. Rue goes to stay with her mentor Ali (Colman Domingo) after surviving the DEA sting and recuperates from her injuries. While at his house, she watches a TV report that shares that Fezco (Angus Cloud) broke out of prison using parkour. She goes to find him and briefly goes to his old stories. At her childhood home, she reunites with her estranged mother Leslie (Nika King) and remembers her late father. It turns out that those were likely Rue's last memories. When Ali returns, he finds Rue dead on his couch. The pills in the bottle Alamo gave were laced with fentanyl. Ali calls Leslie to tell her the bad news.
The American version has a nod to the Israeli original's ending in which it is revealed that the main character, Hofit (Roni Daloomi), died of a drug overdose. The whole series was actually Hofit narrating the show as a ghost. Levinson also brings back the late Angus Cloud, who died in 2023 from an accidental overdose. The finale is dedicated to him and it brings back unused footage of him from the previous season.
What happens to Cassie and Maddy?
Maddy (Alexa Demie) and Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) find comfort with one another after Nate's
shocking death. They are now living in the mansion that Nate and Cassie lived at and pretend that Nate is only missing, not dead. Cassie wants to pursue
OnlyFans and asks her sister Lexi (Maude Apatow) to write for her but she says no. Cassie wants to use the house to keep other OnlyFans models like herself and take rent from them.
What happens to Jules?
Rue and her ex, Jules (Hunter Schafer), had a bad parting. Jules continues to be a sugar baby for the married man she has been seeing all season. When she hears about Rue’s death, she makes a painting in her honour.
How does Ali avenge Rue?
After Ali gets confirmation that Alamo was responsible for her overdose, he heads to his strip club to confront the man. Ali shoots G asking for Alamo. The wannabe cowboy used Maddy as a shield initially, but the two men have a duel to settle the score as Alamo learns he knows what really happened to Rue. Alamo is about to draw first on Ali when he realises that Bishop (Darrell Britt-Gibson) gave him a gun with no bullets. Ali shoots Alamo thrice with a shotgun as a relieved Maddy is finally free from his clutches.
In the end, Ali goes to visit the Amish family Rue stayed with near the border and had really liked. He tells them that Rue is now in a better place. All three seasons of
Euphoria are now streaming on JioHotstar.
