It was first reported in 2024 that Warner Bros. had begun developing at least one Game Of Thrones feature film. At the time trade outlets stated that the studio was exploring a cinematic expansion of George R.R, Martin's fantasy universe. And as per a recent update, the working title of the film has been revealed as Game of Thrones: Aegon’s Conquest. It was reportedly announced as part of Warner Bros.’ CinemaCon 2026 presentation in Las Vegas.

As reported by Variety, the title was revealed during CinemaCon, where Warner Bros. showcased its future slate, including projects planned for 2027 and beyond. As of now, the title isn’t locked and could still be changed later.
Reports about the film first surfaced last month. So far, the story is expected to center on Aegon I Targaryen, the original conqueror from
A Song of Ice and Fire. The Targaryens, known for their dragons and complex family dynamics, have already been explored in the main
Game of Thrones series and its spin-offs like
House of the Dragon and A
Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.With the cinematic adaptation, Warner Bros appears to target on a "
Dune-sized" movie experience. With the Aegon's Conquest title, it is understood that the makers are leaning into the franchise's mythic roots.
