Originally a lively, foot-tapping opening number, the track has now taken on a new significance, becoming a new anthem for Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Many fans are speculating whether Venkat Prabhu and his team placed the song as a strategy and easter egg subtly hinting that it would one day become the party's symbol.

When GOAT was released, the opening number, ‘Whistle Podu’, initially received mixed reactions. Fans were surprised as it was a change from Vijay’s usual film openings. However, its infectious rhythm, catchy lyrics, and Vijay's dance won over audiences, making it a chart buster.
