The trailer of the film indicated that the male protagonists end up giving their lives for the nation. Is that the end of Border 2? Let’s decode the climax of this Anurag Singh directorial.(Spoiler Alert)
Border 2 story
Border 2 begins with Colonel Fateh Singh Karel (Sunny Deol) tackling the Pakistani army in a heroic entry that introduces him as Dharmendra Ji Ke Bete (Dharmendra’s Son). His warning marks the commencement of a bigger attack plan. In the neighbouring country, the army initiates Operation Chengiz against India. The conflict takes place before East Pakistan became Bangladesh.
On the other hand, Hoshiar Singh Dahiya is leading the troupe situated near Pathankot. Similar to Fateh, he deals with younger Pakistani army officers and teaches them a lesson in military ethics. Once back at the base camp, he recalls his days at the military academy. The fire within him to prove himself and become an army officer pits him against Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon (Diljit Dosanjh), who believes the Air Force is the best and unbeatable. He hates rejection. Sekhon and Mahendra S Rawat (Ahan Shetty) are friends. A boxing challenge puts Hoshiar and Sekhon into trouble as Fateh teaches them a lesson in friendship, unity and bonding. Their equation changes after the Flying Officer gets to know that Hoshiar doesn’t have a family, and he often feels lonely.
Families of Border 2 men
Besides the army life, Hoshiar has a wife, whom he has never met. After many years, he finally meets Dhanvanti (Medha Rana). Months later, she gets pregnant with their first child. Sekhon falls in love with Manjeet (Sonam Bajwa) and gets married to her. Mahendra has a wife (Anya Singh) and a daughter. Just after Sekhon’s wedding, he has to report back to Srinagar Air Base as Pakistan initiates an attack on India. Hoshiar promises to return to see his child. On the other hand, Fateh is gripped by guilt and loss of his only son, an army officer named Angad. He vows never return to the Gurudwara.
Who dies in Border 2?
During the attack, Sekhon dies a martyr after hunting down Pakistan’s fighter jet. Mahendra, with the blessings of ‘Ma Shakti’, fails the neighbouring country’s naval attack. However, he also doesn’t make it to the other side. On the army front, many of Hoshiar’s men are killed and some are injured. Even he survives a fatal attack. When he begins seeing death, Dahiya remembers Dhanvanti and the newborn child. He has to live for them. Hoshiar is back on his toes, fighting Pakistani invaders. At the right time, Fateh steps in with a roar and arms. In a cinematic climax, he shoots down a militant, rescuing his student, Hoshiar. Joining hands against the enemy, they fire multiple rounds and emerge victorious. The Indian army hoists the tricolour. Hoshiar takes the mortal remains of Sekhon and Rawat to their respective families. Sekhon’s sister, who tied rakhi to him every year, wants him to bring her brother back. Rawat’s daughter pays an emotional tribute to her father with a drawing.
Border 2 ending
Fateh has now avenged his son’s death. He decides to return to the Gurudwara. He visualises the martyrs of the 1971 India-Pakistan war, including Akshaye Khanna’s 2nd Lieutenant Dharamvir Bhakhri and Suniel Shetty’s Asst Commandant Bhairon Singh Rathore from
Border. The film ends with a homage to the unsung heroes who protected the country against heinous attacks in 1971. A real footage in black-and-white has been attached.
Border 2 is expected to take a double-digit opening. After
Dhurandhar in 2025, this film could be the next thing.
