Are you investing time in conversations with the artificial intelligence chatbots? Talking to AI regularly may not be healthy for you. In a shocking episode of human influenced by AI, an incident has come to light, where OpenAI’s ChatGPT may have helped a user to stalk her ex. According to a TechCrunch report, a 53-year-old Silicon Valley entrepreneur was convinced by ChatGPT that he had discovered the cure for sleep apnea, a few powerful people were coming after him, and he was turned delusional enough to stalk his ex.Here’s What HappenedAs per the publication, the ex-girlfriend of the ChatGPT user has filed a case againstOpenAI, accusing the company’s AI chatbot of enabling her harassment. She asserted that the Sam Altman-led company has ignored
three separate warnings that the user posed a threat to others. This included an internal flag that classified the user’s account activities as involving mass-casualty weapons. The complainant, referred to as Jane Doe, has also filed a temporary restraining order requesting the court to order the AI company to suspend the user’s account, stop him from creating new accounts, and save his complete chat logs. OpenAI has reportedly agreed to suspend the user account, but the firm has not accepted the rest of the claims by Doe. Similar Incidents Spark ConcernLast year, a paranoid former manager at Yahoo took his own life before he killed his mother after he was deluded by conversations with ChatGPT. Identified as Stein Erik from the USA, the man was made to believe by the OpenAI AI platform that his mother might have spied on him, and that she might have attempted to poison him, according to the Wall Street Journal.
