Akshaye Khanna has been in the news ever since he nearly outshone Ranveer Singh in Aditya Dhar’s blockbuster Dhurandhar. However, he recently made headlines for his exit from Drishyam 3. While reports
suggested that the actor walked out due to fee issues, producer Kumar Mangat Pathak has levelled serious accusations. Khanna reportedly demanded a different look involving a wig days before the film was set to go on the floors. Although he had almost agreed to the movie after renegotiations over the fee, he suddenly declined to come on board. This behaviour reportedly left the producer fuming. Pathak claimed it led to major losses and confirmed that he has taken legal action against the actor.Drishyam 3 Producer's Shocking Claims Against Akshaye KhannaThe producer told Bollywood Hungama, “We had signed an agreement with Akshaye Khanna. His fees also got locked after a lot of renegotiations from his side. He insisted that he would like to wear a wig. But (director) Abhishek Pathak convinced him that it wouldn’t be practical, as it would result in continuity issues since Drishyam 3 is a sequel. He understood his point and agreed to let go of that demand. However, the chamchas around him advised him that he would look smarter if he donned a wig. So, he again requested the same. Abhishek relented and was even ready to discuss this point with him. But then, he informed us that he doesn’t want to be a part of the film at all.”He further called his energy toxic and accused him of unprofessional behaviour. He also recalled giving him Section 375 and remarked, “Uske pehle woh 3-4 saal tak ghar pe baitha hua tha.”Dhurandhar Working Because Of Me: Akshay Khanna To Drishyam 3 MakersPathak pointed out how Chhaava and Dhurandhar were not his solo projects. He added, “If Akshaye does a solo film, it won’t even collect Rs. 50 crores in India. Forget the lifetime, if he thinks he has become a superstar, then he should try mounting a superstar budget film with some studio and see who greenlights his film with that kind of budget. Some actors do ensemble cast films and after those movies become big hits, they start thinking that they are the star. That’s exactly what has happened with him. He thinks he’s a superstar now. Success has gone into his head. He told us, ‘Dhurandhar is working because of me’. He needs to understand that multiple factors worked in favour of Dhurandhar.”The producer further revealed why they refused to agree to the wig demand. He explained that Akshaye’s character does not wear a wig in the sequel, and doing so would have created continuity issues.Akshaye Khanna Served Legal Notice By Drishyam 3 MakersPathak also recalled that when Khanna heard the script at his Alibaug farmhouse, he was extremely impressed and described it as a Rs 500-crore film. He said negotiations followed, the fee was finalised, an agreement was signed, an advance was paid, and costumes were designed, but the actor backed out. He further stated that Khanna’s behaviour caused significant losses and confirmed that legal action has already been initiated.Actor Jaideep Ahlawat has replaced Akshaye in the film.
