Zee Switch, Sunil Pal said he had been informed that
Samay Raina and Ranveer Allahbadia would also appear on the show, but he believed he had been invited primarily to perform stand-up comedy.Explaining the situation, Sunil shared that he had prepared material for a proper stand-up act before arriving on the set. However, according to him, the segment unexpectedly shifted into roast-style humor instead.
The comedian admitted that he was not mentally ready for that format. He clarified that he would not describe the situation as betrayal but added that what he had expected from the appearance did not happen. He also noted that several unexpected things unfolded during the interaction, which caught him off guard.Sunil’s comments have once again sparked discussion online around the growing popularity of roast comedy and how differently performers from various generations approach the format.
Viral segment revived ongoing feud
The reunion between Sunil Pal and
Samay Raina came months after tensions between the two comedians had already become public. Last year, controversy erupted after remarks made during Samay’s show
India’s Got Latent led to criticism and multiple FIRs reportedly being filed.Following the backlash, Samay removed the show from YouTube. During that phase, Sunil Pal had openly criticised Samay and even used strong words while reacting to the controversy. Samay later appeared to respond indirectly through jokes in one of his comedy specials.
