Thalapathy Vijay's Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam made a strong showing in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, securing a significant lead in over 100 seats. His father, renowned director SA Chandrasekhar, shared his joy and extended heartfelt congratulations to his son for the achievement. He also shared that Vijay had always wanted to do something for society and for the Tamil people and mentioned that people loved him not only as a leader, but also as their own son, brother, grandson, and more. His father proudly said that Vijay has built this heartwarming relationship between the public and him.

Thalapathy Vijay's father reacts to TVK's massive lead

Speaking to ANI, Thalapathy Vijay's father, SA Chandrasekhar, said that in the last 30 years, his son had been growing the passion for doing something for his Tamil people and it was there in his mind. He has developed these things gradually and today he is proudly going to be the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. He shared that Tamil people loved him not only as a leader, but every lady considers him as his own son, young people consider him their own brother and everyone calls him Anna,which means brother. SA Chandrasekhar also mentioned that old ladies consider him their own son; some 60-year-old ladies call him their grandson. Meanwhile, Vijay's dad spoke to The News Minute and shared that he "has not spoken anything on alliances or reaching out to any party."

On the other hand, Vijay's mother spoke to ANI and shared that she is very happy as her son is going to be the CM of Tamil Nadu. Additionally, Vijay's father shared that she is not only his mother but also the first fan of the actor.

TVK's big lead in Tamil Nadu

As of now (4:25 pm, May 4, 2026), TVK has taken the lead of 109 of Tamil Nadu's 234 constituencies. On the other hand, TVK candidates are also making significant strides in several Chennai-region constituencies. Following the big lead, Thalapathy Vijay has been receiving congratulatory messages as the election results continue to roll in. Family members and friends gathered inside his residence and notably, actress Trisha Krishnan was spotted at Vijay’s house, joining in the celebration.
