The second season of Freedom at Midnight is set to return in the new year on January 9, 2026. Based on the non-fiction book by Dominique Lapierre and Larry Collins, the SonyLIV series is produced by Emmay Entertainment in association with StudioNext. Freedom at Midnight Season 2 to premiere in January 2026

Nikkhil Advani returns as showrunner and director; the series has been written by Abhinandan Gupta, Adwitiya Kareng Das, Gundeep Kaur, Divya Nidhi Sharma, Revanta Sarabhai, and Ethan Taylor.

Much of the ensemble cast of
Freedom at Midnight returns, including Sidhant Gupta, Chirag Vohra, Rajendra Chawla, Arif Zakaria, Ira Dubey, KC Shankar, RJ Malishka, Rajesh Kumar, Luke McGibney, Andrew Cullum, Richard Teverson, Alistair Finlay, and Cordelia Bugeja. The second season continues with its powerful storytelling with a closer look at the leaders, complexities, and sacrifices that steered India through its most defining year. The new promo shows how the new nations were carved out of old India, with both sides fighting for big cities like Calcutta and Lahore.
