Diane Keaton never really played the part of a glamorous movie star. She was in iconic films, and she dated some of the biggest stars of her generation, and yet she somehow remained other and defiantly
herself despite so many years working in the Hollywood system. Eccentric and approachable, with a sort of effervescent charm, it’s no surprise that she played muse to so many, from Woody Allen to Nancy Meyers. The actress passed away on October 11 at the age of 79 and now, her 1987 comedy film Baby Boom is getting a reboot.
Diane Keaton's Baby Boom Gets A Reboot After Her Passing
According to Entertainment Weekly, Filmmaker Michael Showalter is helming a new iteration of
Baby Boom, the 1987 movie that starred the
Annie Hall actress as a workaholic businesswoman who is forced to raise her cousin's baby. The cast, release date are still under discussion but the news has left fans excited, and they cannot wait for more updates. The original
Baby Boom was penned by Nancy Meyers and directed by her then-husband, Charles Shyer. In a lengthy Instagram post shared on October 13, Meyers paid a heartfelt tribute to Keaton. She wrote, "These past 48 hours have not been easy. Seeing all of your tributes to Diane has been a comfort. As a movie lover, I’m with you all — we have lost a giant. As a filmmaker, I’ve lost a connection with an actress that one can only dream of. We all search for that someone who really gets us, right? Well, with Diane, I believe we mutually had that. She goes deep. And I know those who have worked with her know what I know … she made everything better."Meyers recalled working with Keaton on
Something’s Gotta Give, and added, "She was fearless, she was like nobody ever, she was born to be a movie star, her laugh could make your day and for me, knowing her and working with her — changed my life. Thank you Di. I’ll miss you forever."
