After
working on independent songs like Universal Laws and You Are Mine, Ayaan Agnihotri has stepped into Bollywood. The singer crooned his first-ever film track for Bobby Deol's upcoming movie, Bandar. Agni lent his voice to the song C'mon Baby. Directed by Anurag Kashyap, the film is scheduled for a grand theatrical release on June 5, 2026. Days before its release, Zoom did an exclusive interview with Agni. In conversation with us, Agni opened up about working on the film as a singer and revealed his uncle Salman Khan's advice for his music career. He is the son of Salman's sister Alvira Khan Agnihotri and Atul Agnihotri.
Ayaan Agnihotri on Salman Khan's advice, Bandar
Speaking to us, Agni shared what Salman advised him about his music career. "He told me to sing my heart out and not give a sh*t about what anyone thinks," the singer recalled. He further reflected on how producer Nikhil Dwivedi decided to have him on board for the Bobby Deol-starrer. It all happened at a private gathering.
"Nikhil heard me at a private gathering, felt something clicked and brought the idea to me. I didn’t think my voice would work in Hindi. But he was convinced before I was — and that belief from him is what made me give it a real shot," revealed Agni. He further credited for Nikhil for pitching him this vision. Having said that, being a part of Anurag Kashyap film for his first Bollywood song was something he didn't take lightly."From what I’ve seen in the teaser and trailer the film looks incredibly gritty and intense — and that energy was honestly all the direction I needed when I stepped into the booth," he added.
Ayaan Agnihotri on future of indie sound
Continuing the conversation, Agni discussed the future of indie sound and how it could influence Bollywood music. "I think the consumer has driven this more than the industry has. People’s playlists don’t have boundaries anymore — they move between indie and film music without thinking about it. That’s forced Bollywood to open up and I think it’ll keep pushing in that direction," he shared.
