and Trisha Krishnan’s Karuppu which released on May 15, has maintained its theatrical run on Day 12, despite a drop in collections after a strong second weekend. Directed by RJ Balaji, the fantasy entertainer earned Rs 4.45 crore nett in India on its second Tuesday, marking a 24.6 percent decline from the previous day. However, the film continues to perform strongly overall, crossing several global milestones. With steady contributions from Tamil Nadu and overseas markets, Karuppu has now surged past several major box office records, including the lifetime collections of three Thalapathy Vijay films, making it one of Suriya’s biggest hits.

Suriya’s Karuppu has emerged as a historic blockbuster, officially entering the Rs 300 crore club with over Rs 300 crore worldwide and more than Rs 130 crore from Tamil Nadu alone, making it one of the top 10 highest-grossing Tamil films globally, while surpassing Thalapathy Vijay’s
Master (Rs 250–260 crore worldwide, including about Rs 137 crore from Tamil Nadu),
Mersal (Rs 252–260 crore worldwide), and
Sarkar (Rs 248–252 crore worldwide).
Karuppu is also the the first film in nine months to cross the Rs 100 crore mark in Tamil Nadu, with the last such achievement coming from Lokesh Kanagaraj’s ensemble film Coolie, starring Rajinikanth, which released in August last year and went on to collect Rs 285.01 crore nett in India and Rs 518 crore worldwide.
About Karuppu Box Office Collection Day 12:
On day 12 the film was screened across 4,470 shows on Day 12, maintaining a strong presence in theatres despite the weekday slowdown. The Tamil version remained the primary driver of the film’s box office performance. It contributed Rs 3.65 crore nett from 3,073 shows with an occupancy rate of 25 percent. The Telugu version Veerabhadrudu added Rs 80 lakh nett from 1,397 shows, recording an occupancy of 18 percent.
Despite the dip in daily collections, Karuppu continues to achieve significant global milestones. On Day 12, the film added Rs 4.45 crore nett from India and Rs 1 crore from overseas markets, taking its worldwide total to Rs 253.26 crore. The overseas gross now stands at Rs 69 crore, while India’s gross collection has reached Rs 184.26 crore. Tamil Nadu remained the biggest contributor on Day 12 with Rs 3.70 crore gross. Karuppu is a fantasy action entertainer where Suriya plays Saravanan, a lawyer believed to be the human avatar of the deity Karuppusamy. The story follows a vulnerable father-daughter duo trapped in a corrupt legal system.
