Mandhana’s hospitalisation postponed the ceremony to a later, unannounced date. Due to the wedding postponement, Smriti’s best friend and colleague, Jemimah Rodrigues, chose to withdraw from the remainder of the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) season to stay back to support her bride-to-be.

Suniel Shetty reacted to Jemimah’s decision to be by her friend’s side during a tough phase. Sharing the picture of a newspaper snippet, the actor wrote, “Bumped into this article first thing in the morning and my heart felt full. Jemimah leaving the WBBL to be by Smriti’s side. No big statements, just quiet solidarity. This is what real teammates do. Simple. Straight. Genuine.”

Smriti Mandhana and Palaash Muchhal wedding

According to reports, Smriti’s father was rushed to a hospital after experiencing heart attack-like symptoms. He has been discharged now. A day after Mr Mandhana’s hospitalisation, Palaash was also admitted due to ill-health. While Smriti’s family has stayed back in Sangli, the Muchhals brought Palaash back to Mumbai for medical attention. Dr. Dipendra Tripathi, one of the doctors overseeing his treatment, told Midday, "Palash’s condition appears to be linked to stress-related distress rather than a serious cardiac event." He added, "While certain levels were found to be slightly elevated, there was no indication of a major cardiac or medical emergency. As a basic line of treatment in such cases, oxygen therapy was started immediately. Following initial stabilisation, Palash was shifted to a general room and kept under close observation."Amid this, unverified reports are accusing Palaash of cheating on Smriti amid the wedding festivities. An old picture of him proposing to his ex-girlfriend also went viral. The Muchhals and Mandhanas are yet to come on record about the cheating allegations.
