Sanjay Leela Bhansali takes his time to make movies. A style that celebrates luxury, grandeur and cinematic perfection, his magnum opus films are worth the wait. After Gangubai Kathiawadi’s critical and commercial
success, he reunites with Alia Bhatt for Love And War. The period love story also stars Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal in the lead. It was scheduled to release on March 20, 2026; however, the shoot is yet to wrap up. Amid further delays and no definite release date confirmed, rumours were afloat that Sanjay and Ranbir had a fallout on the set over creative reasons. Dismissing fallout speculation, the actor and Alia were seen at Bhansali’s office in Mumbai soon after returning from their annual vacation.
Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt meet Sanjay Leela Bhansali
On Thursday (January 7), Ranbir and Alia were spotted outside Sanjay’s office in the city. Choreographer Ganesh Acharya also joined them. As the film’s shoot continues, this meeting hints that a grand-scale dance number is being cooked within closed doors. Only an official announcement can confirm this development.
Fallout rumours
As per early rumours, Ranbir was asked to reshoot a couple of scenes. However, the extended schedule was conflicting with his other commitments, especially
Ramayana: The Introduction. The makers of the mythological drama were reportedly disappointed with the delay in
Love And War. The period romantic film is now expected to release in the second half of the year. This leaves little margin between the theatrical debuts of both highly anticipated movies.A Mid-Day report then denied fallout rumours and a source close to the film confirmed that Bhansali is on track with its release this year. Reportedly, the shoot will wrap by March 2026. The makers are aiming for an Independence Day 2026 release and Kartik Aaryan’s
Naagzilla might move to a later date in this case.
