Charan’s Peddi, which released in cinemas on June 4, opened to a massive reception from fans, making it the actor’s first Rs 100 crore opener as a solo lead. While one section of film buffs is celebrating the success, many others have raised their voices against the depiction of love and romance in the film, with netizens also calling it the 'hypersexualisation' of Janhvi Kapoor. Now, the film’s director Buchi Babu Sana has spoken about the controversial scenes, promising that he would make changes to them. He also stated that he means no disrespect to women.

In his statement, Buchi Babu Sana mentioned that, in his view, cinema should “entertain, inspire, and connect with audiences,” and should never leave audience feeling “uncomfortable or disrespected.” He added that the team had received considerable feedback about certain portions of Peddi and had taken the concerns seriously.

He clarified that there was no intention to objectify or disrespect any female character in the film. “We have always had immense respect for women, both on and off screen,” he stated, adding that if any part of the film has been perceived that way, the team respects those sentiments, understands the concerns, and sincerely apologises.

Following the criticism, the makers have also decided to 'make changes' to the concerned portions after reviewing audience reactions. The director mentioned that cinema evolves through its connection with audiences and that filmmakers must remain mindful of changing perspectives and sensitivities. He also reiterated that every woman “deserves to be respected, valued, and represented with dignity,” and assured that the team remains committed to telling stories that celebrate strong characters and uphold those values.

His comments comes after Jahnvi Kapoor's depiction in the film received severe backlash from netizens. One scene shows Ram Charan’s character kissing her without consent, leaving her in tears. Another sequence features goons trying to undress the actress. Following this netizens have also expressed concern over repeated close-up shots of Janhvi Kapoor’s body and what they describe as a poorly written character.
