Since content is licensed territory-by-territory, if one K-drama does not release in India, there might be a situation where another title might release here, but not in another country due to different licensing.It has been noted that Netflix and Amazon Prime use international content to attract premium subscribers. However, things are different with Disney+ Hotstar, which relies on partnerships with studios like HBO/Disney. Now, since Disney+ Hotstar in November 2024, merged with Reliance Industries' Viacom18 to form a new entity, JioHotstar, the platform was rebranded, signaling a shift away from the standalone Disney-branded streaming service in India.

This depends on the genres being watched by Indians, along with the process of dubbing international content in regional languages (Hindi, Tamil, Telugu).
