Satinder Sartaaj, the Sufi Punjabi singer who has carved a niche with his style of music and singing, holds a rich body of work that is loaded with folk and Indian vibes. The popular artist turned the first guest of Baatein Dil Se, a brand new podcast by Navika Kumar, Times Group Editor-in-Chief. In its debut episode, the music icon shared untold stories about his songs, how he makes music and his close bond with people who hold importance in his life. Two such people are Bollywood's power couple Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi. In 2017, Sartaaj had made his film debut with The Black Prince , where he also shared screen space with Azmi. Shabana Azmi's beautiful compliment to Satinder Sartaaj
Satinder Sartaaj started by sharing how the film was entirely shot in Britain. Speaking about Shabana Azmi's role, who played his onscreen mother, Maharani Jinda, Sartaaj said, "Our first scene was inside a castle. We were sitting on a table for a dinner scene. Her character had come to Britain from India for the first time. She spoke Punjabi, I spoke English in the film."Fondly remembering one huge compliment by Azmi, Sartaaj went on, "Shabana ji called the cameraman and told him that during her pov, he must take the close-up of my eyes. That was the most beautiful and profound compliment for me in my entire career. I still give her my gratitude when I visit her house." Navika Kumar agreed to the fact that Satinder Sartaaj indeed has very expressive eyes.The singer also shared that he hold great regards for Javed Akhtar, who released his Urdu poetry work in Mumbai. "Their role is important and beautiful in my life," he shared.
