Reminiscing about his childhood, Dibyendu shared with Zoom, "My parents have always made it a point to celebrate my birthdays. Maa used to cook paayas (kheer) for birthdays, it has become a birthday ritual for us. My wife is cooking it for me this year.”He added, "I do enjoy celebrating birthdays with friends and family, but by God's grace, there have been numerous occasions wherein I have celebrated my birthdays on the set. For actors, it’s always ‘the show must go on.’ Be it any festival or any occasion, if work calls, nothing else matters.”This year, Dibyendu plans to keep things intimate and homebound. He shared, “This year, I am at home with my family. I always emphasise that family comes first. If I am in Calcutta, I make it a point to celebrate with my parents and my sister, and with my childhood friends, and in Mumbai with the children, wife, and friends.” And while the celebrations are simple, the year ahead is anything but. Dibyendu has an exciting lineup of projects, Undekhi Season 4 is in the making, Ek Ruka Hua Faisla will soon be announced, and his upcoming film Gulabi with Huma Qureshi is one of his most anticipated works.A sports enthusiast at heart, Dibyendu also can’t help but cheer for the women’s team’s recent World Cup victory. Dibyendu has been vocal about his encouragement for women playing sports; apparently, his daughter, Norah Bhattacharya, is a national-level footballer as well and plays for the national under-17 team. “Now that our women’s team has won the trophy, I feel it’s the perfect time to release Chakda Express. It’s a very beautiful film that shows the journey of a women's cricketer, and is Anushka’s best performance to date, in my opinion. It's a film that deserves to see the light of the day. It is totally up to the makers, but I really feel now is the right time for the film to be released. Women are no less than men, and such movies shall encourage our young girls."As Dibyendu Bhattacharya turns a year wiser, we wish him a very happy birthday!Do you find this article useful?
