Crime Season 3 recently premiered on streaming giant Netflix, and just like the past seasons, this season too, DCP Vartika Chaturvedi, AKA Shefali, is earning praise for her powerful performance. However, did you know she was terrified to do the series? In an exclusive chat with Times Now Editor-in-Chief Navika Kumar, Shefali Shah opened up about feeling very scared to portray Vartika Chaturvedi in the third season of the International Emmy Award-winning series.

Shefali Shah reveals feeling very scared to play her role in Delhi Crime Season 3

In a candid chat with us, Shefali opened up about her process to do a role and shared that she doesn't have a manual and works on instincts. She confessed, “I don’t have an instruction manual. I work purely on instinct. I don’t have something that tells me, ‘Use expression number 33 here.’ And honestly, I don’t ever want to work like that. Each role is a new experiment; I never know whether it’ll land, whether people will connect with it or not."When speaking about the show, Shefali revealed that she was scared to do Delhi Crime Season 3 and shared, "I was very, very scared about Delhi Crime Season 3. Terrified, actually. Because there was already a legacy - DC has its own identity, and so does Vartika Chaturvedi. She is who she is, but she has grown, and in Season 3, she carries a lot more baggage. What I tried to play this time is very different: there’s no bravado anymore. She’s doing what she has to because it’s her job, not because she wants to prove anything. She knows where to channel her anger and her pain. She still feels everything just as intensely, but she may not show it. And I didn’t know whether that would land.”

She went on to add, "And it's also because she (Vartika) does not have the time, the luxury of time to wallow in that pain or the anger. She just has to go and find these girls. So, like it happens with me when there is a crisis, I shut out emotionally. You know, I just I'm like, I'll deal with that part later. Right now, this is what I need to do. This is what I'm going to do."
