Jana Nayagan Censor Certificate Issue: Court Hearing On Vijay's Film Postponed To 7th January

The makers ofJana Nayagan, actor Vijay’s highly anticipated swan song, have filed a petition before the Madras High Court on behalf of the production house,KVN Productions. The plea seeks judicial intervention

to expedite the issuance of the censor certificate, which is yet to be granted by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), despite the film being scheduled for release on January 9. According to reports, Jana Nayagan was submitted to the CBFC on December 18. While the certification committee reportedly suggested a few cuts, the filmmakers agreed to the changes. However, the censor certificate remains pending.

As per sources, the case has been adjourned to January 7. During the hearing before Justice PD Asha, the producers argued that the delay was unnecessary and could affect the film’s commercial prospects. They contended that repeated referrals to review were halting the film’s scheduled release.Representing the CBFC, Additional Solicitor General Sundaresan questioned the urgency, stating that the release date had been announced before the completion of the certification process. In response, the court directed the Censor Board to file relevant documents related to the re-examination committee and adjourned the matter to the next day at 2:15 pm.

The delay has left fans disappointed, especially with Jana Nayagan set to release on January 9, followed by Parasakthi on January 10. The potential box-office clash has heightened anticipation and worry among theatre owners and film enthusiasts.

Jana Nayagan is expected to be Vijay’s final film before his entry into active politics with his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam. The film stars Mamitha Baiju, Pooja Hegde, and Bobby Deol alongside Vijay. Music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, with cinematography by Sathyan Sooryan and editing by Pradeep E. Ragav. The technical team also includes stunt choreographer Anl Arasu, art director V. Selvakumar, costume designer Pallavi Singh, and choreographer Sekhar VJ.
