Speaking with Zoom, Shweta revealed that she wrote a backstory for Roshni before she began the show, delving into little details like if she made any new friends or if she really enjoyed politics. The actress explained, "Roshni has had a very interesting childhood and upbringing. As an actor, I always write backstories for all my characters and projects. But for Maharani, I had to just rewatch all the three seasons because I've been a huge fan of the franchise. And of course, I've seen them as and when they came out. But I find Roshni so interesting, because she saw a world change around her, and as an oldest sibling and a girl, she saw her father become a CM, and then her mom became a CM. Her father dying, her mother going to jail, taking care of her brothers—so I think she has this innate intelligence to be that balanced person, and also her dynamic with Rani has been established with a very warm bond that the mother and daughter share."

Shweta continued, "I think my biggest takeaway from Roshni is that she's such a balanced person. She's practical, she puts logic first, she's not temperamental and sentimental like Jay, and yet she's a very wise, warm, kindhearted, and diplomatic person. She has actually the best qualities from both her parents. So, I thought, Roshni has really absorbed it all from whatever was going on, and I think she had an upper hand because she was the eldest, and she understood it much more than what they did. As an audience member, I just keep myself away from being an actor who's worked on Maharani, I love Roshni. I would want a society where there are more people like Roshni, who put logic first, who are rational thinkers, and who are good people." The actress also shared her thoughts on joining an already established set. Calling the Maharani team "amazing people," Shweta said, "After you've done three seasons together, you've already lived, traveled, seen your show, go through season after season together. So, as a new entrant, one is committed to the professional job. At least I don't go on any set and make friends. And, you know, what am I going to get out of this? Because I'm a very in, out actor. I go to my job, come back home." She went on to add, "But this is one of the sets where I actually made some genuine bonds and made friends. Subhash sir, Huma and the rest of the team, they were so warm and so beautiful. It never felt that I was joining them for the first time. It felt like I've always been there. And that is completely the team of Maharani. They were so warm and receptive. I felt very comfortable to work. I would have done the same thing, done the same job. But it just becomes a wholesome experience when you're working on a good project. and your work is good and you're excited to wake up every morning and go to work. Someone like me who's very passionate approach, she does. It's a plus and a bonus when it happens with amazing people. And then you actually make friends and have to pack up. You're like catching up and having dinner together." Maharani, created by Subhash Kapoor, also sees Vipin Sharma, Shardul Bhardwaj, Rajeshwari Sachdev and Darsheel Sarfary join the show. The previous season of Maharani premiered in March 2024.
