Dakota Fanning on her approach to acting and career
At a press conference for
All Her Fault, Fanning revealed that in her two-decade career, her approach to work has not been altered over time. She shared, "I don't think that it has. No, because I do think that ultimately, acting is make believe. It's playing pretend. When you're young, that's how you approach it, obviously, because that's what you can connect and relate to it, that you're playing pretend and playing make-believe. I think I kind of approach it the same way. Inherently, you're just thinking about what any given situation would feel like to a person and trying to show that. I don't think, at its core, it has changed that much. I think I still approach it with that childlike innocence and play."

The Perfect Couple actress also stated that fans are slowly beginning to view her as an adult now, but she does not discount her work as a child actor. Fanning added, "I think when people watch you grow up and go through different stages, everyone has a different version of you in their mind. What feels grown-up to someone else may not feel grown-up to someone. It's just all over the place. I feel like now, I'm back at neutral."

Uptown Girls especially; people who were in their twenties or early thirties are like, 'Oh, my favorite movie when I was little.'
