Featuring Barun Sobti in the role of Assistant Sub-Inspector Amarpal Jasjit Singh aka Garundi, the second season also stars Mona Singh in the role of a no-nonsense cop Dhanwant Kaur. The star cast and creators of Kohrra Season 2 recently engaged in an insightful chat with Zoom. During the chat, Mona opened up about her character in the Netflix series and the challenges of playing a no-nonsense cop in a world full of men. The actress also shared how she manifested her transition from TV to OTT.

When Mona Singh was asked about her first break away from TV to OTT, Mona revealed "Yeh Meri Family. That was the first show which I shot for. It's a lovely show." Next, the actress was asked if the show was U-turn from what she was portraying, Mona agreed and added,"I had done almost everything on television, so how do you grow or evolve more. It's by taking the next step, the leap of faith. But what happens for every actor is the wait and the wait is unpredictable. You are not working for six months or a year or two years, what do you do in that time, so I was waiting it out and I was watching all the shows produced by TVF. I was watching them in YouTube and U was like wow, this is a new thing. I loved Tripling, I loved Permanent Roommates - I love those shows and I was like why am I not doing this and how do I get to do these kind of shows because these are the shows I want to be a part of and then of course I got a call from TVF ki aa jao. Let's do a reading."

She also admitted that manifestations have worked for her, as the kind of work she aspired to eventually found its way to her.

Mona Singh on complexities of her character in Kohrra Season 2

When asked about the complexities of her character of a no nonsense cop and portraying them in Kohrra Season 2, Mona stressed the importance of strong writing. For her, the script, dialogues, and layered narrative provided everything an actor could ask for. She also spoke about the unique prep process, which included intensive workshops and one-on-one sessions with acting coaches, something she had never experienced before. Unlike the usual approach of table reads followed by individual preparation, this process involved deep collaboration, requiring both learning and unlearning.

Mona Singh reveals getting emotional during Kohrra Season 2 shoot

She described her character, Dhanwant, as calm and controlled on the surface, but internally dealing with personal loss and emotional turmoil without the luxury of grieving.Mona shared, "So there were so many things to just address and yet not address but there were certain scenes where I just wanted to cry my eyes were going wet and Sir would be like no don't cry and I held myself back. I honestly feel that when you watch a character who's trying not to cry and not to explode is more powerful there are no explosions in the show. It's so sublime. It's so understated. It the tension is always simmering.It's never exploding. She's exasperated. She's trying to control her personal life. She's trying to solve the most twisted case under pressure and being forced to work with Garundi." She added, "It's just too much and always questioned because she is a female cop in a man's world, are you even capable of solving this case? How is your home life going? How is your husband? all those questions are asked and she has to constantly prove herself which is not easy. So, I was living and breathing throughout theseries throughout the shooting."

About Kohrra Season 2

In Season 2, Barun and Mona will be seen solving a disturbing murder case revolving around a woman who was found brutally killed and cut up in her brother's house. Garundi and Dhanwant Kaur work together to solve the case, which pushes them to face both dark family secrets and unfinished business from their own pasts. Even though they have very different personalities, both Garundi and Dhanwant are dedicated to their jobs and often jump right into cases even as their personal walls start to fall apart.Kohrra Season 2 will premiere on Netflix on February 11, 2026.
