Namit Malhotra and Yash were there to promote Ramayana, which became the first-ever Indian film to be presented at this massive global event. During his time at CinemaCon, Namit spoke about more than just Ramayana. He also dropped a much-awaited update on Brahmastra 2, giving fans of Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt an exciting piece of news on their fourth wedding anniversary.
Namit Malhotra To Start Brahmastra 2 After Ramayana
According to Variety India, at CinemaCon 2026, Namit Malhotra revealed that he plans to produce Brahmastra 2 soon after wrapping up work on Ramayana. He confirmed that he will take the Astraverse forward with Brahmastra 2, signalling that the project is very much alive and on his radar.Ayan Mukerji, who has always been deeply passionate about the Astraverse, has been on board to helm the sequel.
Ramayana Part 1 is set to release during Diwali 2026, with Part 2 planned for Diwali 2027. So fans may realistically expect Brahmastra 2 to pick up steam in 2027 or later.Earlier, during a fan interaction, Ranbir Kapoor had also dropped a big hint about Brahmastra 2, saying, "It is something that Ayan has been nurturing as a dream for a very long time. It is definitely happening. We haven’t really announced much of it, but then some really interesting announcements (will be made soon) regarding Brahmastra 2."
About Brahmastra 1 And Astraverse
Brahmastra Part One - Shiva released in 2022 and was directed by Ayan Mukerji. The film starred Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Amitabh Bachchan. It ended up as a decent hit at the box office.The sequel, officially titled Brahmastra Part Two - Dev, will see Ranbir Kapoor return as Shiva. The Astraverse was always planned as a trilogy rooted in Indian mythology. The second film focuses on the story of Dev and Amrita. In October 2025, Ayan was spotted in the mountains with what appeared to be a script, hinting that work on the sequel may have already begun quietly.
