Kerala HC Dismisses Abduction Case Against Lakshmi Menon: Report

Malayalam actress Lakshmi Menon has reportedly been granted relief in an alleged abduction case. On November 7, the Kerala High Court reportedly dismissed the abduction case against Lakshmi and other co-accused.
It was apparently in connection with an assault and abduction of an IT professional in August this year. According to a media report, the complainant had alleged that Lakshmi and her friend had intercepted his car. And later, he was allegedly dragged out of his car and assaulted.
Abduction case against Lakshmi Menon dismissed?
As per Bar and Bench, Justice CS Dias allowed the plea filed by Lakshmi and others to dismiss. The Kerala HC quashed the abduction case after noting that the accused and complainant had apparently settled their dispute. It has been reported that an affidavit was executed indicating that the issue had been amicably resolved.The media report further quoted the Court's order: "In the result, the Criminal Miscellaneous Case is allowed. Thereafter, an argument apparently broke between an IT professional, Lakshmi and her friends.
FIR registered against Lakshmi Menon and her friends?
After the alleged incident happened, an FIR was reportedly registered against the actress and others at the Ernakulam Town North Police Station. The FIR was apparently registered under following sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (BNS): Sections 140 (2) (kidnapping), 126 (wrongful restraint), 296 (obscene acts), 127(2) (wrongful confinement), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 351(2) (criminal intimidation) and 3(5) (common intention).In the court, advocates Biju Balakrishnan, VS Rakhee, KJ Gisha, Akshaya S Nair and Jayakumar C allegedly represented Lakshmi and her friends.
