actor Rajasekhar has bought the film's remake rights, and is set to star in the film along with Ramya Krishnan, marking their reunion after two decades.
Lubber Pandhu Telugu Remake: Rajasekhar, Ramya Krishnan To Reunite After 27 Years
As per reports, the shooting for the film began a few days ago in Hyderabad. The story is a cricket-based sports drama, is helmed by IV Sasi’s son, Ani IV Sasi. The film will see Rajasekhar paired opposite Ramya Krishnan, they will play the roles of VR Dinesh and Swasika from the original film. Rajasekhar and Ramya Krishnan previously starred together in several hit films in the 1990s, such as Allari Priyudu and Balarama Krishnulu which was about 27 years ago. Rajasekhar’s daughter is essaying the role of his on-screen daughter in the film. Viswadev Rachakonda of 35 Chinna Katha Kaadu fame is playing one of the lead roles in the film.
Lubber Pandhu tells the story of Anbu is a small-town guy and a gifted bowler who crosses paths with Poomalai/Gethu an older, much-popular batsman. A series of unfortunate incidents leads to their egos clashing and their on-field rivalry spills into their personal lives... only for it to hit a high when they learn that Anbu is in a relationship with Gethu’s daughter Durga.
Rajasekhar was last seen in Extra Ordinary Man is a 2023 Indian Telugu-language action comedy film directed by Vakkantham Vamsi which featured Nithiin, alongside Sreeleela and Sampath Raj. Meanwhile, Ramya Krishnan is working on Police Station Mein Bhoot directed by Ram Gopal Varma. Interestingly, this film marks the first collaboration between Ram Gopal Varma and Ramya Krishnan. The actress was recently in Baahubali franchise, which had a massive theatrical re-release on October 31.
