countdown to the National Award winning actor Dhanush's next -Kara - has just kicked off. With just two weeks left for the film to hit theatres, Dhanush has shared his review of the film after watching the first preview show. The actor's review has further heightened the buzz for the movie. In his special post going viral on social media, the Tere Ishk Mein star has penned a praise for Kara director Vignesh Raja.

Taking to X in a rare pre-release post, Dhanush called him a “genius” and thanked him for the film. Vignesh Raja responded with gratitude, thanking the actor for his support.
Vignesh Raja has described Kara as an emotional suspense thriller. The story follows Karasaami, a man forced to confront parts of his past he had left behind, while trying to protect those who depend on him. His choices lead to unexpected consequences and major turning points in his life.

Earlier this year, on Pongal, the team officially revealed the film’s title along with a poster featuring Dhanush in an intense avatar. The tagline on the poster read, “Sometimes, staying dangerous is the only way to stay alive.”Director Vignesh Raja also announced the title on X, confirming that D54 is now called Kara. He described it as an emotionally driven suspense thriller and said the film is set for a summer release, while also crediting producer Ishari K Ganesh and music composer G. V. Prakash Kumar. The makers had earlier shared a still from the sets, showing Dhanush mid-conversation at an STD booth. The image was posted online with a note confirming that the shoot was underway.Apart from Dhanush, the film features Mamitha Baiju as Selli, KS Ravikumar as Kandhasaami, Suraj Venjaramoodu as a cop named Bharathan, Karunaas as Kasi Maayan, and Jayaram as Muthu Selvan.The story is set in Ramanathapuram in 1991, during the time of the Gulf War. The backdrop includes fuel shortages and unrest following attacks on oil depots. Against this setting, the narrative unfolds over 16 days.
The film is co-written by Vignesh Raja and Alfred Prakash, and produced by Ishari K Ganesh under the banner of Vels Film International, along with Kushmitha Ganesh. The writers, who spent four years shaping the final draft of
Por Thozhil, feel that working as a duo improves the process, as it allows them to bounce ideas off each other and refine them along the way. The technical crew includes cinematographer Theni Eswar, editor Sreejith Sarang, art director Mayapandi, and stunt choreographer Dinesh Kasi. Kara is scheduled to release in theatres on April 30.
