Vikram Bhatt has now been arrested by Rajasthan Police and Mumbai Police, in a joint operation, in a Rs 30 crore fraud case. The director was arrested from Mumbai's Yaari Road area, from his sister-in-law's house. It is to be noted that Bhatt had earlier denied of the allegations in an official statement, mentioning that 'The police have been completely misguided.'

According to the FIR filed at Bhupalpura police station in Udaipur, Rajasthan, Dr Murdia alleges that Vikram Bhatt and his team lured him into investing more than Rs 30 crore in a film project. They allegedly assured him that the film would generate profits of up to Rs 200 crore. The project was said to be a biographical film meant to pay tribute to Dr Murdia’s late wife.But after denying the allegations, 20 days back, it comes out that Rajasthan Police and Mumbai Police have jointly arrested the filmmaker and after this, Rajasthan Police will apply for transit remand in Bandra Court to take him to Udaipur. This comes after, seven days ago, Udaipur Police issued a lookout notice against the film director, his wife Shwetambari Bhatt, and 6 other accused.
