Once celebrated as a promising star in Tamil cinema with a string of successful films, Bharath later experienced a slowdown that disappointed fans. Many believed his shift towards action films was the reason for his decline, but the actor has now said that multiple factors played a bigger role.
Bharath Opens Up About His Decline In Tamil Films
Bharath, who has spent over two decades in the film industry, recently opened up about his career journey. Having acted in more than 50 films, Bharath said there was a time when he was among the most promising young actors in Tamil cinema. His early career was marked by several successful films, including
Boys, 4 the People, Chellamae, Kadhal, February 14, Pattiyal, Em Magan, Veyil, and Kanden Kadhalai. These films not only performed well at the box office but also helped him gain an identity in cinema.
He said that films like Pazhani were well received, and people loved seeing him in action entertainers, so him, working in action films was was not the sole reason for his slowdown. According to Bharath, he continued to work on several quality films, but many of them failed connect with audience. Bharath said that external factors such as release timing and lack of proper promotion also impacted his films. He said the example of 555, which many film buffs later praised, but which struggled during its release.
Which Two Films Overshadowed Bharath's Big Releases?
The film was released during a period when Vijay’s Thalaivaa faced issues, leading to an unexpected and rushed release for 555. Similarly, Nepali suffered due to an ‘A’ certification and stiff competition from Something Something... Unakkum Enakkum. “Sometimes it is just timing or luck,” Bharath said , that such factors can influence a film’s success regardless of its quality. Bharath also admitted that some setbacks were due to his own choices. He said that mistakes in script selection played a role in his career dip.
Bharath also spoke about his ability to stay relevant and make a strong comeback. Drawing a comparison to a sudden match-winning performance in cricket, he said he hopes to bounce back in a big way, much like cricketer Sanju Samson.His upcoming film Kaalidas 2, directed by Sri Senthil and set to release on April 3, features actors like Sangeetha, Ajay Karthik, and Bhavani Sre. Fans are hopeful that this project will mark a turning point and usher in a new phase in Bharath’s career.
