The teaser hints that the it is a period film set against the British rule. Roshan Meka is seen playing the role of a young footballer named Michael C Williams who finds doesn't like the way the British treats Indians. How Michael uses his desire for the sport to rebel against the British forms the plot of the story. Pradeep Advaitham, who has previously worked as a creator on the popular web series Save The Tigers has written and directed the film. Editing for the film is by Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao and Sai Krishna Donepudi is the co-director.

Champion marks Roshan Meka's second film after his debut Pelli SandaD, which released in 2021 and also starred Sreeleela. Champion also marks Telugu debut for Anaswara Rajan, Malayalam actor known for films like Super Sharanya and Rekhachithram.The film is produced by Priyanka Dutt, GK Mohan and Gemini Kiran. The music is by Mickey J Meyer, who previously composed music for Nani starrer Hit 3. Award-winning production designer Thota Tharani and action director Peter Hein are onboard for the film.Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao is the editor, and Madhie is the cinematographer. Rutham Samar, and Sai Krishna Donepudi has been credited as the film's co-director. Venu Gopal has been credited for the concept and storyboarding.Champion is slated for a theatrical release on December 25, clashing Aadi Saikumar’s Shambhala.
