The
Don 3 controversy refuses to die down. What started as a major casting announcement has turned into one of Bollywood's biggest industry disputes in recent times. The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) imposed a ban on Ranveer Singh after he allegedly walked out of the Farhan Akhtar film. Now, another body has stepped forward and they are not happy about being kept in the dark. It is CINTAA, headed by veteran actress Poonam Dhillon.
What Is CINTAA?
The Cine and TV Artistes' Association, commonly known as CINTAA, is one of Bollywood's most important bodies. It works as a representative and support system for film and television artists. The association steps in when actors face professional problems, disputes, or unfair treatment. It acts as a mediator between actors and producers to find fair solutions. Poonam Dhillon, veteran actress and politician, currently heads CINTAA as its president.
Poonam Dhillon On Ranveer Singh's Don 3 Row
Poonam Dhillon has made it clear that CINTAA feels sidelined in this entire episode. While speaking to Variety India, she said the association would have preferred if either party, Ranveer Singh or the producers, had reached out to them when things started going wrong. She shared that the situation left her at a loss for words since CINTAA was not informed at any point. She added, "It's a very strange situation to be in because it's one of our members, but neither the artist nor the producer or the Federation informed us."She specifically pointed out that since Ranveer is a CINTAA member, he could have approached the association to settle things. She made it clear that without full information, she was not in a position to judge who is right or wrong in this matter.
Ranveer Singh Vs FWICE
The roots of this
controversy go back to 2023, when Farhan Akhtar officially announced that Ranveer Singh would headline Don 3, taking over the iconic role previously played by Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan.
However, things fell apart when Ranveer decided to walk out of the project. Farhan then took the matter to FWICE, claiming that Ranveer's sudden exit caused financial losses of nearly Rs 45 crore spent on pre-production. FWICE intervened and issued a non-cooperation directive, effectively a shadow ban, against the actor.Ranveer's spokesperson responded with a measured statement, saying the actor holds the film fraternity in the highest regard and has chosen to handle the situation with dignity and silence.
