Anne Hathaway's first reaction to sequel script
On reading the script for
The Devil Wears Prada 2 for the very first time, Anne asked the team, “Did Meryl read it yet? What did she think?” to which she was told, “Yes, Meryl loved it." Anne thought that the film would be amazing if she and Meryl loved it. She further added that when she read it, she felt it was amazing and beyond what she hoped for with the sequel. Anne guaranteed the fans that the film will be crossing all expectations that it has set, as was the work done by previous writer Aline Brosh McKenna. “It was a joy and unbelievable treat to make it," Anne added.
Anne and Meryl's characters
Oscar winner Meryl Streep returns as the ruthless Miranda Priestly, nearing retirement, who is in desperate need of advertising revenue, which is now controlled by her former assistant Emily Charlton (Emily Blunt). Anne's character Andy Sachs, on the other hand, is back as a stronger, bolder and confident feature editor on Runway, a far cry from the timid and hesitant girl from the original film. Stanley Tucci is also back as art director Nigel Kipling.
