Hema Malini got emotional as she remembered her late husband, Dharmendra, at a prayer meet in Mathura. On December 11, the veteran actress and politician had organised a ceremony in his memory in Delhi.
Several politicians, spiritual leaders and Apne director Anil Sharma were present at the prayer meet in Mathura on Saturday.

PTI, Hema got emotional while talking about Dharmendra. She said, “I never imagined that I would have to organise a prayer meet for my beloved Dharamji. It was an inconsolable shock.”

I still feel surprised and happy that my onscreen love became my life partner in real life.”Besides Hema’s heartfelt speech, Dharmendra’s prayer meet in Mathura showcased two documentaries. One was curated by Anil Sharma and the other featured the late actor’s Urdu shayri. The ceremony also included a bhajan evening to wrap up on a spiritual note. Hema shared a special video on Instagram and wrote, “Special tribute to Dharam ji highlighting his evergreen appeal, his charisma, his immense talent and his tremendous, impactful presence in all his movies. This visual trbute was made for the two prayer meetings that I had arranged in Delhi and Mathura.”
Hema and Dharmendra’s daughters, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol, attended the Delhi prayer meet. However, they had to skip the one in Mathura, citing personal reasons.
Dharmendra death
Dharmendra would have turned 90 on December 8. His last film, Ikkis, is scheduled to release in theatres on December 25. The actor breathed his last in Mumbai at the age of 89 on November 24. The family arranged an intimate funeral, which was attended by several Bollywood celebrities, including Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and many others.
