As
artificial intelligence becomes part of our lives, the debate about taking over jobs is still ongoing. Several industry leaders, like Nvidia's CEO, have often suggested that AI will create more jobs. However, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei has warned that the rapid growth of AI will trigger a ‘serious employment crisis'. He stressed that AI has the potential to replace a large number of entry-level white-collar jobs across industries.
Anthropic CEO Warns AI Can Cause Job Loss
The
Anthropic CEO recently spoke in an interview with Fox News and asserted that the technology expansion rose dramatically in the past two years. Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei warns of a "serious employment crisis" as AI is set to replace entry-level jobs. He added, “Two years ago, it was at the level of a smart high school student; now it’s probably at the level of a smart college student and reaching beyond that.”Notably, he has highlighted the potential benefits of AI in areas, especially energy and medicine. The Anthropic CEO warned that AI has the capability to disrupt employment in sectors that involve administrative and analytical work.
Entry-Level White-Collar Jobs Under Pressure
Amodei said, “Things like summarising a document, brainstorming, and putting together a financial report make me worry a lot about entry-level jobs in areas like consulting, finance, tech, and many other areas.”
He added, “I worry that those things are going to be first augmented but, before long, replaced by AI systems. It is hard to predict the future, but we may indeed have a serious employment crisis on our hands as the pipeline of this early-stage white-collar work starts to contract and dry up.”What lies ahead is the future where AI can reshape how fresh college graduates begin their careers. If the entry-level white-collar jobs continue to automate, the conventional ladder that once began with internships could soon witness a dramatic shift. With growing AI, the fear of unemployment continues to rise.
