The European Union has announced a new way to keep children at a distance from social media. They have introduced a new application for age verification, specifically designed to keep children safe online and verify users' age with utmost precision. The move came after countries like Australia straight up banned users under 16 years of age from social media networks. The old school age verification method allowed users to self-verify their age, but now, the new app works on proof. The European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that the app application comes with the highest privacy standards in the world and will work on any phone. What's more is that it is easy to use and entirely open source. She further said, 'Online platforms
can easily rely on our age verification app, so there are no more excuses. Europe offers a free and easy-to-use solution that can shield our children from harmful and illegal content.'As for the working of the application, it is based on different mechanisms and requires legal age identification, such as a passport or other government documents. The app works fine on tablets, personal computers, and smartphones and is available on both iOS and Android. To run the application, you will need an Apple or Google account.Claude Users May Need To Submit ID And KYC-style Selfie Under New Anthropic Policy
