Kartavya: Saif Ali Khan Reveals How Producer Shah Rukh Khan Reacted After Watching Upcoming Netflix Film

Ali Khan is all set to return to the cop genre with his upcoming Netflix film Kartavya, produced by Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment. The film is directed by Pulkit and centres on a police officer caught in a moral dilemma, as threats close in on his family and he is forced to choose between protecting his loved ones and staying true to his duty. At the trailer launch event, Saif opened up about his experience of working on the film and shared what Shah Rukh Khan had to say after watching it.

How Did Shah Rukh Khan React After Watching Kartavya

Saif Ali Khan revealed that Shah Rukh Khan's reaction after watching Kartavya was positive. He said that after the shoot was completed and SRK watched it, he told Saif it is a lovely film. "Once we finished the shoot and Shah Rukh watched it, he said it's a lovely film. He's very happy with it. That was pretty much the limit of my interaction with him," Saif said, adding that the King actor was not present on set during the shoot.Saif shared that his interaction with King Khan was limited but meaningful. Talking about he was offered the film, Saif said, "I’ve had a lovely and long association with Shah Rukh. He’s someone I look up to in many, many ways. I had a short meeting with him. He said that there’s a lovely script and he would like me to hear it and do the film. I went through the process of listening to it and meeting the director."

Saif spoke highly about the way Shah Rukh Khan handled his role as a producer on Kartavya. He explained that SRK believes a director should have full freedom to make the film he wants to make, and that is exactly how it worked on this project. He said, "Sometimes, some kinds of presence can be overwhelming on sets and he understands that. He gave us a lot of room to make the film that we wanted to make."The Hum Tum actor further added that while he felt he was working under SRK's production house with his sensibilities, an everyday involvement from the producer was never needed.

Kartavya Release Date And Cast

Kartavya is set to stream on Netflix on May 15, 2026. The film features a strong ensemble cast including Rasika Dugal, Sanjay Mishra, Zakir Hussain, Manish Chaudhari, and introduces Saurabh Dwivedi in his acting debut.Saif Ali Khan is stepping back into uniform for the first time in nearly seven years. The actor last played a cop in the critically acclaimed web series Sacred Games.
