Stranger Things Season 5: All Main Characters Killed So Far Ahead Of Series Premiere
Times Now
The fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana, featured in Netflix's Stranger Things, has had a high death count. Since Will Byers, played by Noah Schnapp, was taken on November 6, 1983, Hawkins has seen many
citizens lose their lives to an alternate dimension called the Upside Down. While hundreds of minor characters have died over the past four seasons, even Dustin's (Gaten Matarazzo) cat, Mews, was killed by the Mind Flayer; the final season will probably claim more victims. On Stranger Things Day, we look at the characters whose deaths were keenly felt by the characters and fans of the show.
Barbara Holland aka Barb
After Will Byers' disappearance, Nancy Wheeler's (Natalia Dyer) best friend, Barb (Shannon Purser), was the next victim. She was abducted and killed in the Upside Down by the Demogorgon in Season 1. Co-creators Matt and Ross Duffer have indicated that Barb's body is set to appear again in the final season to tie up some loose ends.
Bob Newby
Played by Sean Astin, Bob was Joyce Byer's (Winona Byers) boyfriend during Season 2. The couple was truly in love, and Bob cared for both her sons, especially Will after he was controlled by the Mind Flayer. Sadly, during the climax of Season 2 at the Hawkins National Laboratory, while trying to help Joyce, Hopper, and the rest of the gang escape, Bob was captured and killed by the vicious Demodogs from the Upside Down.
Billy Hargrove
Max Mayfield's (Sadie Sink) stepbrother Billy is taken over by the Mind Flayer in Season 3 to do his bidding. Billy manages to recruit a sizable amount of the population for him before the gang realises what happens and tries to stop him. He is killed by the Mind Flayer's giant spider monster at the Starcourt Mall as he is impaled trying to protect his sister and her friends.
Dr. Alexei
Dr. Alexei (Alec Utgoff) is one of the Russian scientists hiding in Hawkins in Season 3 trying to reopen the gates to the Upside Down. He is captured by Joyce and Hopper (David Harbour) to get information about their secret operation. At the town carnival, however, Grigori, the Russian assassin, finds and kills him before he can reveal more info.
Dr. Martin Brenner
Eleven's (Millie Bobby Brown) 'Papa,' aka Dr. Martin Brenner (Matthew Modine), dies in the Nevada desert in Season 4. He and Eleven, aka Jane, are trying to escape Lt. Colonel Jack Sullivan's men, who are firing at them. He dies alone from gunshot wounds after Eleven goes back to her Hawkins friends. The research scientist experimented on gifted children such as Eleven and Henry, aka Vecna (Jaime Campbell Bower).
Chrissy Cunningham
Popular cheerleader Chrissy (Grace Van Dien) at Hawkins High begins to have disturbing hallucinations concerning her family. She goes to Eddie Munson to buy some drugs to alleviate her mind, but she goes into a trance at his place, and she is horrifically killed by Vecna. Chrissy's boyfriend, Jason (Mason Dye), is also killed by Vecna later in Season 4 during his mission to avenge her death.
Fred Benson
Nancy's classmate and a writer on the school newspaper, Fred (Logan Riley Bruner), goes to investigate the murder of Chrissy. However, Vecna possesses him just like Chrissy, causing Fred to relive his past trauma where he killed another student in a car accident. He is lured by Vecna into the woods, where he dies a gruesome death in an open grave.
Eddie Munson
One of the most devastating deaths of Season 4 was Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn), the leader of the Hellfire Club at Hawkins High. A good friend to Dustin and Will, he becomes the prime suspect after Chrissy's death. He joins them and the other members of 'The Party' who have been fighting creatures from the Upside Down, including Vecna. He dies a hero's death, luring the Demobats away from the others who are trying to take Vecna down.
