During his interview with news agency ANI, the Coolie No. 1 star alleged that the film Govinda Naam Mera, produced by Karan Johar, was loosely inspired by the problems in his marriage. He claimed that the storyline mirrored personal issues between him and Sunita and accused the makers of trying to force-fit someone’s real-life struggles into a film. Govinda went on to say that if he ever crossed paths with Karan Johar, he would publicly give him the “Rajinikanth treatment,” referring to the action style of Rajinikanth in films, while also adding that jokes and misbehaviour are not acceptable everywhere.

Govinda Naam Mera, produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, stars Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekkar and Kiara Advani. The film revolves around a man stuck in an unhappy marriage who wants to divorce his wife to be with his girlfriend but is unable to do so due to financial demands linked to dowry.

Sunita Ahuja's allegations against Govinda

Meanwhile, Sunita Ahuja has been openly speaking about her marriage for over a year. In a recent interview with Miss Malini, Sunita Ahuja accused Govinda of being involved in an extramarital relationship with a younger woman. She said that Govinda should behave responsibly, saying it was not the right age for certain actions and that such behaviour affects their grown-up children. Sunita also made sharp remarks about young women entering the industry, alleging that some seek financial support from older men and later trap or blackmail them.

Earlier, Govinda had reacted to the ongoing controversy by claiming that people close to him were being used against him as part of a larger conspiracy.

Govinda and Sunita, married since 1987, are parents to Tina Ahuja and Yashvardhan Ahuja. Tina made her Bollywood debut with Second Hand Husband in 2015, while Yashvardhan is gearing up for his acting debut with a Sajid Khan directorial. Titled 100, the movie also stars Nitanshi Goel.
