Why did Rajpal Yadav surrender in Tihar jail?
Rajpal Yadav’s legal troubles date back to 2010, when he took a Rs 5 crore loan from a Delhi-based company to finance his directorial venture
Ata Pata Laapata. The film failed to perform at the box office, leaving him unable to repay the loan in full.Later, Rajpal and his wife sent checks for repayment, but they bounced, so the lender went to court. According to reports, the outstanding amount has increased to nearly Rs 9 crore over the years due to penalties and interest. Rajpal was unable to pay the full amount even though he made partial payments.
Before surrendering, the actor made an emotional appeal in court, expressing his helplessness.. He said he had no money left and saw no way out of the situation. When asked whether he had sought help from friends in the film industry, Rajpal replied that one ultimately stands alone in such times and has to face the crisis on one’s own.
