CL, Kang Dong Won's case gets update
Today, January 22, Seoul’s Yongsan Police Station has confirmed that CL’s case, involving allegations of operating an illegal agency, has been forwarded to prosecutors. Authorities clarified that the decision was made without detention, with charges filed under the Popular Culture and Arts Industry Development Act.
In a related update, police also addressed Kang Dong-won’s case, stating that the actor has been cleared of all allegations. Officials confirmed that he was not involved in any illegal agency activities, following which the charges against him were officially dropped.
Who filed the case?
Complaints were raised after a citizen submitted claims that the stars established agencies that did not comply with mandatory registration requirements under the Act on the Development of the Public Culture and Arts Industry. It further stated that they violated the Popular Culture and Arts Industry Development Act by not registering their companies. This meant they carried out business operations outside of the legal protections provided by the Act. The case further stated that these agencies operated outside of the guidelines provided by the law. Violations may now result in up to two years of imprisonment or fine of up to 20 million KRW (approximately 14,500 dollars).
