Farhan Akhtar Clarifies 120 Bahadur Isn't Major Shaitan Singh Bhati PVC's Biopic, Reacts To Backlash Over Title

Akhtar’s upcoming film, 120 Bahadur, faced backlash after members of the Yadav community staged a protest in Gurgaon in September over the title. While the makers retained the original title, the actor broke his silence on the protest and concerns of the community. In a recent interview, Akhtar clarified that 120 Bahadur isn’t only about Major Shaitan Singh Bhati (PVC).

During the interview, journalist Rajat Sharma asked Farhan, “The society had complained about this film that the focus was on Major Shaitan Singh Bhati and 120 brave soldiers were ignored.” The actor replied, “Sir, my answer has always been that if I just wanted to make a film on Major Shaitan Singh Bhati PVC, then I would have kept the title Shaitan Singh. That would have been the easiest thing. There wouldn't have been any controversy. Everyone would have said that a film is being made on Shaitan Singh Ji PVC. But this film is about the whole company. That's why we have named it as 120 Bahadur. Because the contribution of the rest of the people in winning that battle was just as much as theirs.”

The dialogue is - “Ahir Hai Hum, pyaar se maango ge toh jaan bhi de denge, lekin desh par baat aayi toh ek toh kya, 100 ki jaan le bhi lenge.” Farhan also mentioned that 120 Bahadur is not the biopic of Major Shaitan Singh Bhati PVC, but a tribute to every soldier’s sacrifice.
