Honey
Singh is controversy’s favourite child. Recently, the Punjabi rapper-singer faced criticism for making obscene remarks during Nanku and Karun's concert in Delhi. In a viral video, he could be heard encouraging the youth to have intimate moments inside a car, but with protection. Amid backlash for his ‘sleazy comment’, Honey issued a clarification. In a video, the rapper claimed that his words were taken out of context. He also apologised if his remark offended people. The concert was held in Delhi earlier this month. Netizens were quick to call out his vulgar statement. Honey has been at the receiving end of trolling for the longest time for the lyrics of his songs.
Honey Singh apologises
In his first statement following the concert backlash, Honey said, “A video of mine has been going viral on Instagram since morning, edited in a way that’s offended many people. I want to tell you the whole story. I was just a guest on Nanku and Karun’s show, and about two days before the show, I had lunch with some gynaecologists and sexologists. They were telling me that today’s youth is suffering from sexually transmitted diseases, and it’s a big problem. Many people are having unprotected sex.”He added, “When I went on the show, I saw the Gen Z audience and thought I’d give them a message in their language - to not have unprotected sex and use condoms. I thought I’d speak in the language they understand, the way they watch OTT content and movies. But it seems that language offended some people.”
Honey apologised saying, “I’m sorry to those who were offended by my language. I didn’t mean to hurt anyone. I’m human, and I make mistakes. I’ll try not to repeat this mistake again. I’ll be more careful about what I say, how I say it, and to whom I say it. I’ll keep in mind that my words can be edited and taken out of context.”
What did he say at Delhi concert?
At the concert, he said, “B*******d Dilli ki thand! Isme na gaadi mein **** mein bada maza aata hai, itni thand mein. Gaadi mein sex karo, Dilli ki thand mein. Use condoms guys, please. Play safe! (Oh my god, it’s cold in Delhi. It's fun to have sex in the car in this weather. So, have sex in the car but use condoms, guys, please. Play safe!)”People on social media stood up against
Honey’s vulgar remark and called him out on social media. The video that went viral got extreme backlash.
