Long
before he silenced haters and critics with his brilliant performances as Hamza Ali Mazhari and Jaskirat Singh Rangi in Dhurandhar and Dhurandhar: The Revenge, Bollywood powerhouse Ranveer Singh left audiences speechless with his portrayal of Alauddin Khilji in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat. The actor has spoken time and again about his 'method acting' process for playing the antagonist. He had to lock himself away in an isolated house to work on the character. Not just that, he almost did not recognise himself and told his mother, "This isn't me, Maa." But Dhurandhar took way more than that. For the first time, Singh opened up about the role in a chat with his business partner.
Dhurandhar's Hamza Or Khilji? Ranveer Singh Picks
Nikunj Biyani, co-founder of Ranveer's protein snacks brand, recently shared his take on the spy actioner. Not just that, he also revealed what Singh told him about playing Hamza. Biyani said he watched both Dhurandhar films on the first day and loved them. He called
Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge the best film of all time and said the
sequel was on another level. He also shared that during a conversation, they once asked Ranveer Singh if he would take up a role as demanding as Khilji again. The
83 actor said THAT Hamza had been far more challenging as an artist. He said, "This character has been way more challenging for me, as an artist; it has taken so much more out of me. I have had to go deep and give it 300 percent; it has been very demanding."
And his performance spoke for itself. In the first instalment, many critics and fans believed that Ranveer was outshone by Akshaye Khanna, who played Rehman Dakait in the Aditya Dhar directorial. However, the actor silenced his haters with his performance. As Hamza, he fought the bad guys, took revenge for his nation and pulled off masterstrokes. And, his performance as Jaskirat was equally on point. Both characters now live rent-free in the minds of Bollywood buffs.
